New Year! New You! New Habits??

Hey everyone! Welcome to my latest blog on Life-Launch-Navigation.com! I am excited to have you here! Over the next year we will talk about getting control of our money, making plans for improvement and organizing our time better! Today, let's talk about mindset and habits. Growth happens when we believe that we are capable of change and go about mindfully embracing new approaches to goals.


First, let's start at the beginning...We have only so much time in our days and weeks to take care of whatever we decide is important to us or for us, right? Thus the term in our headline, habits. As we prepare the now-unfolding year, we ponder resolutions - past and present, some successful and others, not so much. This year we are going to try something new and different but not unrecognizable! Here's to 2025, the year of changes or shifts, minute or monumental, and that's up to you!

  1. Start at the Beginning

    • Embrace the excitement of a fresh start. Rear-view mirrors are smaller than your windshield for a reason.

    • Reflect on the past year: what worked, what didn’t, and what brought you joy?

  2. The Habit Menu: Brainstorm a list of fun, fulfilling or energizing habits to try!

  • Get out into nature, your neighborhood or park (identify birds or just breathe the fresh air).

  • Explore a new hobby (pottery, painting, or yoga at your community center or library).

  • Join, or like my friend Lori, form a book club (with snacks, of course).

  • Set your wake-up alarm for one time and get up.

  • Be in bed nine hours if you want to get eight hours of sleep. I heard that from Mel Robbins. We can talk about this if you'd like.

3. Make it Social: Buddy Up!

  • Find a friend or partner to join you on your habit journey.

  • Schedule regular check-ins (over coffee, tea, or lunch). Meeting with my friend Nancy helps me to be accountable for progress I am making toward my wellness goals.

  • Share successes and laugh at the mishaps together.

4. Cultivate Your Habit Garden:

  • Create a visual reminder of your new habits - a vision-board, colorful chart or a fun calendar.

  • Use sticky notes with motivational quotes around the house.

  • Celebrate small victories with a text to a friend

5. Embrace Flexibility: Life Happens!

  • Remember, it’s okay to adjust your goals as needed.

  • Don’t stress over missed days or slip-ups; habits are built over time.

  • Find joy in the process, not just the outcome.

6. Reflect and Celebrate: Cheers to You!

  • Be proud of what you've learned so far!

  • Host a mini-celebration with friends (or just a solo dance party).

  • Plan your next set of habits or continue with the ones you love!

7. Keep the Momentum Going: Habitual Happiness!

  • Continue to add new habits as you feel comfortable.

  • Share your journey on social media if that's your thing (with fun photos, of course).

  • Encourage friends to create and share their own habit journeys!
